Shimmery Dragonfly Dreams Cards

Today's Kickoff Party card spotlights the beautiful Dragonfly Dreams Bundle!  The stamps, especially when they are paired with the intricate Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, are simply gorgeous and so versatile!  And there are lots of fun techniques that lend themselves to these images, too! 

Focal Point—I started by stamping the beautiful Dragonfly Dreams dragonfly in Memento Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock.  TIP: That skinny photopolymer tail can easily curve to the side when mounting the stamp on the block with your hands.  That's not a problem if you don't want to die-cut the image, but if you do, a tail with even a slight bend will not fit correctly inside the die for a nice clean cut. To make sure it is straight, simply lay the image stamp-side-down onto the table, then lay a clear mount block over the top of it to pick it up.  

Coloring With Markers—The dragonfly has a coordinating stamp that you can use to quickly fill in the wings with color.  I wanted a two-toned look, so I used the brush-tip end of the the Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point Stampin' Write Markers to add color directly to the stamp.  Since the stamps are see-thru, it's easy to line up the color image over the stamped original.

Shimmery Dragonfly—After I die-cut the dragonfly with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, I finished coloring in the body with markers.  I also used the markers to clean up any "white" edges that I may have gotten by not stamping the color into the wings perfectly.  Then I painted over the wings with Clear Wink of Stella shimmer!  OOoooooh!  So lovely!!  It's iridescent—just like a real dragonfly!

Focal Point Foundation—I die-cut a Whisper White square with the Stitched Shapes Framelits, then stamped the Dragonfly Dreams dotted pattern along the bottom edge with Pool Party Ink.  It's popped up over a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" Basic Gray square with Dimensionals, then mounted onto a Pool Party card base with SNAIL.  I added a few floating Rhinestones for more sparkle.

Sweet Sentiment—I finished by stamping a phrase from the Dragonfly Dreams set in Memento Black Ink right underneath the square.

So sweet, so simple & so shimmery!

Two Cool—For the second card, I experimented with a warmer color combination.  

The wings on this one are colored in with Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo markers and the dots are stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink.  

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the first part of this Dragonfly Dreams sentiment on the front...

And the second part on the inside, along with a Flirty Flamingo dragonfly accent.
