Goodbye Simply Sketched

Just a quick note before sharing today's project.  Many of you may have noticed that you're not receiving emails (including MINE!) in your inbox from blogs/websites that you have subscribed to.  This is due to the fact that many sites have been using Feedburner as their delivery mechanism.  Unfortunately, Feedburner is on it's way out and is now not working properly.  For this reason, I have changed my delivery option to MailChimp.

If you previously subscribed to my blog, you don't have to do anything.  I have imported your information.  If you would like to subscribe, simply add your email address over there on the right!  You will receive a confirmation email that you must reply to in order to activate your subscription.  Subscribe now so you don't miss any of the exciting updates and posts coming soon!

Okay, now on to the good stuff ....

It's hard to believe that so many stamp sets and accessories are going to be gone in about a month!  I have to admit there a some that I won't miss very much.  However, there are others that will truly be missed!  The card I'm showing today is an example of one of the sets I'm REALLY going to miss!

This card is one of my all-time favorites!  I just love the color combination and how it just pops.  It's full of items that are retiring.

The card base is Bermuda Bay card stock.  Then I took a piece of Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (retiring) and cut it diagonally with my Stampin' Trimmer.  The strip of Baked Brown Sugar card stock was embossed using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (retiring).

The oval pieces were cut using the Ovals Collection Framelits -- one in Bermuda Bay and one in Very Vanilla.

I used another framelit and two different punches to create the sentiment piece on the upper right hand of the card.  From the bottom up:

  • The bottom piece is Baked Brown Sugar cut with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits.
  • The center piece is Bermuda Bay again.  I punched it using 1 1/4" Circle Punch and then used the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (retiring) for some coordinating texture.
  • The top piece was stamped in Baked Brow Sugar Classic Ink with the sentiment from the Simply Sketched stamp set (retiring).  Note:  this retiring set is a hostess set and cannot be bought.  You must earn Hostess Benefits to select this set.

The focal point of this card was made using three different stamp sets.  First, the background was created in Baked Brown Sugar ink using the Very Vintage Wheel (retiring).  The Memories sentiment and then the flower image from Simply Sketched stamp set (retiring) was stamped.

I used my Bermuda Bay and Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink pads along with Blender Pens to color the image.

Last, but not least, was the butterfly from the Papillion Potpourri stamp set.  Once again stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Very Vanilla card stock.  The image was then punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch.

Just a reminder that ALL retiring items (including stamp sets) are only available while supplies last!

New Stamp Club(s) Forming NOW!

  • Do you love to stamp?
  • Is your crafting Wish List longer than your grocery list?
  • Do you need to stay on a budget with all of your crafting supplies?
  • Do you need some great ideas and inspiration for creating cards and other projects?
  • Do you find it hard to set aside time to make time for creating your projects?
  • Do you need a night out once a month to enjoy time with people who have similar interests as you?
  • Would you like to earn FREE stuff?
If you answered YES to any of these questions then Stamp Club is for you!

What is a Stamp Club?
Once a month members meet to create 2-3 projects.  I design the projects and bring all of the supplies for you to create your projects.  I provide pre-cut materials and instructions on how to make the projects.

What are the benefits of joining a club?
  • You will receive a FREE annual catalog and all mini-catalogs
  • Free monthly class featuring the latest and greatest from Stampin' Up
  • Private instruction and guidance with all projects
  • See and learn new ideas and techniques
  • Slowly build your Stampin' Up! collection without breaking the bank!
  • Relaxing and fun night out with the ladies - stamp with current and/or meet new friends who share your passion for creativity
  • Each member takes a turn being the hostess and earning all of the hostess benefits (translation:  FREE STUFF!)
  • Leave each month with completed projects ready to give away or to keep for future inspiration
How Does Stamp Club Work?
Members place one order, once a month, over a 6-month period (minimum order is $25).  During one month of the six, they'll earn a minimum of $25 in Hostess Dollars (and usually more!) to spend on anything in the current catalogs.  Please note:  if we have more than 6 members in a club we will meet for a number of months equal to the number of members and the minimum order will be lower (i.e. 8 members will meet for 8 months and the minimum order would be $20)

What are the requirements?
  • Each member must place the minimum order each month.  The minimum is determined by the number of members in the club (not to exceed $30).  The more members in the club, the lower the minimum requirement (i.e. 10 people only have to spend $15 each meeting).  This ensures the hostess receives a minimum of $25 in free merchandise.
  • If you are unable to attend a meeting, you are responsible to submitting your order PRIOR TO the meeting.  Again, this ensures that the hostess receives her benefits.
  • If a member is unable to fulfill her obligations of the club she will be responsible for finding a replacement member; otherwise she is still responsible for placing her monthly minimum order.
  • You will have a "generic" on file.  If you are unable to attend a meeting and I do not hear from you prior to that month's meeting, I will automatically order your "generic" order.  You will have a credit card on file that will be charged.  This way I don't have to chase down orders to hold the whole order up for the rest of the club members.
  • Clubs are limited to 10 members, but should have at least 5 members to start.

When Does Stamp Club Start?
New clubs will be starting in May!

When Does Stamp Club Meet?
My current club meets on the 2nd Friday of each month at 7:00pm.  Fridays don't work for you?  Just send me an email and let me know what day(s) work for you and I will try to coordinate with other interested in the same day(s).

Want to stamp with a current group of friends?
Fantastic!  You only need 5 friends to start your own Private Club.  We will coordinate a date that works with your group.  All requirements and benefits are the same!

Want to join us?!  Contact me today to sign up!

Still have questions?  Contact me for all the details!

I hope to hear from you soon!

Retired Stamp Contest!

In just 2 Days, on April 21, Stampin' Up! will be releasing their list of Retiring Stamp Sets & Accessories.  It's always an exciting, yet bittersweet time, as we get ready to say goodbye to some of our favorites in order to make room for new favorites to come.

This year, I thought it would be fun to have a little contest to guess which sets you think will be leaving us.  Grab your 2013-2014 Annual Catalog, or check out the online Annual Catalog PDF, and let me know...
Which 10 Stamp Sets Do You Think Will Be On The Retiring List?
To Enter: Please leave your list of 10 soon-to-retire stamp sets in the Comments Section at the bottom of this post.  You can also enter by emailing me. Please enter by 8pm on Sunday, April 20.
Guidelines: Please stick to stamp sets from the Annual Catalog, not the Spring Catalog.  Also, we already know that ALL Hostess stamp sets always retire, so I'm not counting those.  No purchase is necessary.  Anyone can play, but I can only select a winner from the USA.
Winner: The person to get the most correct answers according to the Retiring List posted on April 21 will be able to select a FREE retiring stamp set from a selection of my personal stamps that end up on the list.  In case of a tie, the person who responded first will be the winner.  The winner will be announced on April 21 and contacted by email to select the prize set.  If the list is posted early, I will stop the contest immediately and select a winner at that time.

Good luck!
