Goodbye Simply Sketched

Just a quick note before sharing today's project.  Many of you may have noticed that you're not receiving emails (including MINE!) in your inbox from blogs/websites that you have subscribed to.  This is due to the fact that many sites have been using Feedburner as their delivery mechanism.  Unfortunately, Feedburner is on it's way out and is now not working properly.  For this reason, I have changed my delivery option to MailChimp.

If you previously subscribed to my blog, you don't have to do anything.  I have imported your information.  If you would like to subscribe, simply add your email address over there on the right!  You will receive a confirmation email that you must reply to in order to activate your subscription.  Subscribe now so you don't miss any of the exciting updates and posts coming soon!

Okay, now on to the good stuff ....

It's hard to believe that so many stamp sets and accessories are going to be gone in about a month!  I have to admit there a some that I won't miss very much.  However, there are others that will truly be missed!  The card I'm showing today is an example of one of the sets I'm REALLY going to miss!

This card is one of my all-time favorites!  I just love the color combination and how it just pops.  It's full of items that are retiring.

The card base is Bermuda Bay card stock.  Then I took a piece of Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (retiring) and cut it diagonally with my Stampin' Trimmer.  The strip of Baked Brown Sugar card stock was embossed using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (retiring).

The oval pieces were cut using the Ovals Collection Framelits -- one in Bermuda Bay and one in Very Vanilla.

I used another framelit and two different punches to create the sentiment piece on the upper right hand of the card.  From the bottom up:

  • The bottom piece is Baked Brown Sugar cut with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits.
  • The center piece is Bermuda Bay again.  I punched it using 1 1/4" Circle Punch and then used the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (retiring) for some coordinating texture.
  • The top piece was stamped in Baked Brow Sugar Classic Ink with the sentiment from the Simply Sketched stamp set (retiring).  Note:  this retiring set is a hostess set and cannot be bought.  You must earn Hostess Benefits to select this set.

The focal point of this card was made using three different stamp sets.  First, the background was created in Baked Brown Sugar ink using the Very Vintage Wheel (retiring).  The Memories sentiment and then the flower image from Simply Sketched stamp set (retiring) was stamped.

I used my Bermuda Bay and Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink pads along with Blender Pens to color the image.

Last, but not least, was the butterfly from the Papillion Potpourri stamp set.  Once again stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Very Vanilla card stock.  The image was then punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch.

Just a reminder that ALL retiring items (including stamp sets) are only available while supplies last!
